Oliver Baezner

Meet Sonic Founder, Speaker, Executive Recruiter and Business Coach Oliver Baezner

Oliver is the Founder of Sonic Breakthrough Coaching and as a business and executive coach he has spent over 30 years in leadership and management roles with some of Canada’s largest corporations including Energizer and Shoppers Drug Mart. He’s also the former Vice-President of Sales and Marketing of Canada’s largest publicly owned craft brewery, Big Rock Brewery.

Oliver has worked with a variety of well-known clients, including an NHL Hockey Team, as well as executives, business owners and their teams in dozens of industries. He is also a Managing Partner with Alto Partners Global, specializing in executive search and a certified chair for MacKay CEO Forums, where he helps some of Calgary’s top CEOs accelerate their performance through peer learning.

In addition to his extensive coaching and leadership development work, Oliver is the co-founder of 100 Men Who Give A Damn, a Calgary organization of community-minded men who raise money for local charities, which has now grown to over 51 chapters of men and 92 chapters of people, men, and kids across North America, with an impact of over $10 Million raised for local community charities.

While he can often be seen wearing a suit and tie, people close to him know that he’s really somewhat of a free spirit who feels most at home in nature. In his free time Oliver enjoys camping, mountain biking and spending time with his daughter.

Client Manager

Tia Callaway

Tia is Sonic’s “meticulous” and personable Client Manager. She has a passion for helping clients set themselves up for success using recruiting and best hiring practices! She has over 12 years management experience, as a recruitment specialist, training, and development expert, and performing business turnaround.  Tia’s strong leadership modelling honesty and integrity have seen her the recipient of several industry awards throughout her career.

Tia holds her Registered Professional Recruiter (RPR) designation and she is certified with TTI Success Insights in behavioral assessments. She is also currently working to obtain her bachelor’s degree with a major in Psychology.

Originally from British Columbia, she has called Calgary home since 2005. When she is not in the office Tia enjoys spending time with her husband, 2 daughters and their pets. She is an avid reader, gardener and loves playing board games with family and friends.


Edward Callaway

Bringing 20+ years’ experience coaching and developing diverse teams, Edward has a passion for helping people succeed. His business turnaround experience and reputation as a fixer provides him with the understanding of what it takes to guide a team from survive to thrive. 

Born and raised in Calgary, Edward earned a diploma in Criminology at Mount Royal University before transitioning into sales and retail management. He moved to BC and lived there for 15 years while raising his 2 sons and furthering his career, working at the GM and Director level for several large international companies. After returning to Calgary, he sought to bring his management abilities to the Transportation industry and worked on gaining valuable skills and insights to leverage into leadership in that sector. 

When he is not helping business owners ‘Breakthrough to Great!’ Edward spends his time with his family and pets cultivating one of his hobbies. He loves working with his hands, playing board games, and flexing his creative muscles using his favorite medium, Lego! 

Administrative Assistant

April Gilbert

April’s enthusiasm for  organization helps keep everyone in the office on schedule!  She has a friendly, approachable attitude and is willing to jump in and assist clients whenever possible.

Saskatchewan was April’s home until the University years when she moved to Alberta to attend Grant MacEwan.  After graduating, April started her career as a Museum Exhibit Designer.  Over the years she moved into management and lead numerous creative teams in very deadline driven environments.  She has an artistic mind and is driven by producing quality results.

April enjoys time with her family and any opportunity to get outside. She loves gardening, camping, hiking, and reading.
