Have You Visualized Your Success?

If you haven’t visualized your success, do you actually know what your ideal business success looks like and do you “believe” that you can actually achieve the success that you have always dreamed of, or deserve?  I spoke with the CEO of a large optical company a little while ago and we discussed how beliefs affect results and he said to me, “If you don’t believe that you can achieve something, no matter what it is in life, you will never get there.”  Now you’ll notice that he didn’t say you have to know how to get there, just that you actually believe you can get there.  If you don’t absolutely believe you can achieve success, and if you don’t truly know what that success looks like then you will never achieve it.

Last year I was on a conference call will former Olympic downhill skier, Jeff MacInnis; he shared with us that they visualized going down a hill 100’s of times before they ever actually did it in the Olympics.  Visualizing success isn’t a new concept, for athletes, or business, but it is a strategy that most business owners never use.  It’s easy to do and easy not to do.

Have you visualized your business success 100’s of times in your mind?  Do you know what that business success looks like and will you actually know when you get there?  Or do you spend most of your time worrying about your lack of business, the economy and visualizing failure (consciously, or subconsciously).  I’m not suggesting that we are not in a tough economy right now, but what I am suggesting is that you stop focusing on it and start creating new ways to move your business forward.  Someone in your industry, right now, is doing well, so why can’t it be you?  Start by visualizing your success and stop focusing on your and everyone else’s failures.  After all, the companies that are doing well right now are the ones that are picking up customers from their failed competitors.
